Architects have proven us time and time again that you can make marvelous things using simple and basic materials and that the idea behind the project is just as important as the way in which it’s executed. On that note, we’re looking at an interesting house which is located in Brazil.
It was designed and built by studio Costaveras Arquitetos and it’s modeled after a very unusual and specific concept. The client found inspiration in an image of a house that had been used as a filming location for a sci-fi movie. Using that as reference, the architects came up with a plan to create a house that looks and feels similar but that’s also designed specifically for their client and their needs. The result was this amazing two-story concrete house.
The house is structured into three big volumes which are intertwined and communicate with each other in various ways. As a general rule, the lower and upper levels have different functions. Down below is where all the social areas are situated. The living room and the kitchen are connected and there’s also a home theater, a wine cellar and a beautiful balcony which can be accessed via large sliding doors.
That allows the interior to open up to the outdoors and brings the house closer to its beautiful surroundings. The upper floor houses the master suite with its large closet and two extra bathrooms as well as a large terrace and sunroom with the best views in the house. In total there’s 393 square meters of space to be enjoyed all year round, a beautiful yard with a swimming pool and a perfect green lawn to contrast with all the concrete and stone on the exterior of the house.
